THE SWEET STORY OF VALENTINE’S DAY
First things first—what is Valentine’s Day all about? Well, my curious friends, it’s not just about chocolates and heart-shaped cards. This day has a fascinating history!
Long ago, in ancient Rome, there was a kind-hearted priest named St. Valentine. Legend has it that he secretly married couples when the Emperor had banned marriages. Why? Because the Emperor thought single soldiers fought better in battle! But St. Valentine believed in love, kindness, and happiness, so he continued to help people find their soulmates.
Sadly, when the Emperor found out, he had St. Valentine thrown into prison. But even there, Valentine spread kindness. He even healed the jailer’s blind daughter! Before he was executed, he sent her a note signed “From Your Valentine”—and that’s how the tradition of Valentine’s messages began!

KATIE COOKS: A Scrummy Treat from Katie the Ragdoll
Hi there! It’s me, Katie the Ragdoll! I absolutely love playing in my toy kitchen, and guess what? I’m going to cook up a super easy, super delicious treat for you to try. It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, and you can make it with your toys or with a grown-up’s help. Ready? Let’s make Heart-Shaped Cookie Pops! 💖
Katie’s Heart-Shaped Cookie Pops
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of flour (a little messy, but fun!)
- 1/2 cup of butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
- Sprinkles or icing (for decoration!)
- Lollipop sticks (if you want to turn them into pops!)
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (or ask a grown-up for help with this part!).
- Mix the butter and sugar together in a bowl until soft and creamy. Then, add in the flour and vanilla extract.
- Roll the dough into a ball, then use a rolling pin to flatten it out. If you don’t have one, you can use your hands, like I do!
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make cute cookies. You can also use a knife to cut out any shapes you like.
- Pop them in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until they’re lightly golden brown.
- Once they’re cooled, decorate with sprinkles, icing, or even stick a lollipop stick in them for a fun twist!
